I paid good money to have a VW mechanic discover that a T2 091 (Bay
4-speed) is almost totally incompatible with a T3 094 (5-speed). He told me
two of the gears might be swappable but nothing else. Don't know how good a
mechanic he was.

I don't know about the 091/1 T3 4-speed though...
