You are missing the point . . .
Grubby-enuff's message was offensive to me, and others I am sure.
And I believe you will both find that you are wrong about Pascal.
The wager is not about the existence or non-existence of God.
It is about choosing to have faith, or not.
Pascal was a man of faith. He did not study all religions and then go
choose loyalty to one based on empirical studies or analysis, or
induction. He did not wake up one morning and wager on the existence of
God. He already had his faith in God, like many people. To encourage
others to seek God, he simply stated, what have you got to lose? He came
up with the allegorical "wager." It went something like this: If you
wager that there is no God, and it turns out you're wrong, you have lost
everything when death knocks at your door. But if you choose to wager on
the existence of God, you have lost nothing when you die if it turns out
you are wrong. But if there is indeed a God of the Bible, then you have
won everything.

That ends my religion discussion. No offense intended to anyone.
