Subject:Has anyone put a turbodiesel system in a gas inline-4?

I'm sure someone out there must have done this. In the late 80's Hot VW's
published an article on how to install the turbo system from the 1.6TD along
with most of the plumbing into a gas 1.8 8-valve engine. The engine
configuration is very similar, right?

I would be interested to hear from anyone who may have done this or has an
opinion as to why it shouldn't be done in a Vanagon. Like putting it into a
Tiico type conversion?
