i don't know if anyone has compiled this from anywhere, but i got this
information from http://www.cars101.com/subaru_archives.html (which is a
great site, full of information about the subarus).

As of Model Year 2000
All Legacys have the more powerful Phase II 2.5L SOHC 4 cylinder Boxer
engine first used in 1999 Forester and Impreza RS. There is no 2.2L engine
in the Legacy anymore.  This 2.5L has 20% more torque at 1250 RPM, 30% more
at 2,4000 RPM and a whopping 50% more at 3,250 RPM!
