I have an '81 and an '84. I noticed that when I put the rear end on
jack-stands the '84 has a brace across the rear end (near the pivot points
for the rear suspension) that looks like an I beam on it's side.  My '81 has
this same support, but rather than looking like an I on it's side, it looks
like a closed off square (ie, not two vertical beams, rather a closed in
square brace.)

I know, confusing, but this might help..

Hello,

I have a little situation that I am having a hard time figuring out.  When I
bought my van, I was told it is an 85.  The vin number brings and an 85 as
well, however it is a L series and on the drivers door it reads that it is
an 81.  ARGH!  How do I know for sure??
