Never overlook the obvious!  The wire running into the connector on the left
rear tail light assembly is broken making an open circuit!  Absolutely the
easiest thing to check, but the last place I thought there would be a
problem!

PS... Still waiting to hear from some of our list wizards who know what the
mystery box is all about.  Possibly related to the missing cruise control
set up?
