Dan, It is a good idea when parking any vehicle for an extended time to remove the battery, and charge it periodically, during the lay-up. However, there is a product, which I use on my Honda Goldwing, during the winter months, that monitors the battery's condition, and charges it automatically, as the voltage drops. It is called a Battery Tender. The only fear I would have in your position is if the battery went dead, it possibly could have froze. When you go to get it, take another battery with you.
