Re: Back From Mexico!>I'm gettin' scared here. I bought my 85 westy 2 months ago after checking around and being told how good VW's are, and that they last forever, and now on the list and VW web pages I keep seeing people getting excited because their van DIDN'T break down, as if it's expected of it to have something go wrong during a trip. Wassup? Am I in for spending some big dough on my van?<

Deb... your van is what... 15 or 16 years old now? Any vehicle that old is going to have problems. Traveling 8K miles or so as Phaedra did without incident is pretty good for any vehicle with 200K on the ticker. It all has to do with maintainance... and special care to certain areas on our unique vehicles... and a little luck doesn't hurt either. As far as the lasting forever part... well...

Listen to the listees and learn... and good luck!
