It's a matter of personal choice (also dictated by your budget). All my
Vanagons either have AC or having them added. They do add extra weight.
Especially bad for handling since the blower assembly is up. Makes the
Vanagon even more tipsy.

The powerloss is acceptable to be in exchange for comfort. I can just turn it
off when I need a little bit more oomph.
