Does anyone know of an adapter device? Or a power >inverter that is designed to fit in the Vanagon-size hole? Just buy a lighter socket from a Japanese wreck or a new one from a parts shop. The dash hole MAY need opening out slightly to fit it (if so, use a round file, then prime the filed edges to keep corrosion away). While you're at it, you could add extra sockets in the back... I noticed this problem too.. my radar detector/jammer plug didn't fit my Caravelle's socket properly, and needed wiggling to get it to make contact. Crazy, VW using a nonstandard socket.
