Last time I had a drum cut, the brake shop would not radius the shoes, something to do with asbestos dust containment. The brake guy said that they would bed in. Sure. When I had to replace those shoes about 40 Kmi later, only about 1/3 of the shoe had worn out and the other end was not even scuffed. So, the second time, I put together a crude-but-effective radius fixture, dragged a 12" disc sander outside, made sure the wind was blowing in the right direction and radiused the shoes myself. They weren't perfect but damn good and a whole hell of a lot better than just throwing standard sized shoes into oversized drums. After all that, I came to the same conclusion as my local VW specialty vendor: rear drums are so cheap anymore, if you have to cut old drums, it is better to just get new ones. Rich
