I have rubber mats in my '90 and there is a thick, assumed to be, sound
deadening material some of which is either cracking and coming loose or
cracked and it may be only a matter of  time until it too comes loose.
If you have this similar product, which is 1/8th to 1/4 of an inch
thick, make sure there isn't any rust lurking under it before you begin
your measures.
