Why you ask? Well, do any of you remember the old TV comercials that were on
when the wasserboxer first came out? I think Dick Cavett did the voice over
saying "come check out the new VW Vanagon with the new more powerful
waterboxer engine". Sure made an impression on me because from then on I
wanted a Vanagon. When I saw my dearly departed '83 aircooled parked on the
side of the road looking abandoned, I knew she would be mine. Forget the
fact that there was no "For Sale" sign on her. Finally got my first V-gon in
1998 '83 2.0L AC with hugh sunroof and no heat. Not good in Chicago during
the winter but I stuck with her for 2 years and 24k miles.

Now I have Miss Blue, my '87 GL Weekender. Got her last September (2000) and
the heat will blow you out during the winter. Hope the AC does the same this
summer but I can handle the heat easier than the cold. Got Miss Blue with
just under 93k and hope to keep her for a long, long time. She feels right,
and I think that's what I like best about her.
