From what I can see, this is GL-5 synthetic transmission gear oil.  I
believe that all VW manual transaxles require GL-4.  Why would anyone
wanting synthetic NOT use a proven product like Redline?

nor the claim (made to me by a sales clerk) that it improves gas mileage (if
