In a word, "Yes."  Both the Vanagon (194k) (wife's) and the bus (180k)
(mine).  Vanagon's been a little more trouble than the bus, but a almost
200k it uses not a drop of oil between changes. The bus leaks like the
Exxon Valdez. I don't have to change the oil in it.  It does it all by
itself. ;o)

If VW still imported them, I'd be drooling over a 'new' Westy.
