CA testing has two tests - assuming that you get the 'standard' smog test. Every year a small percentage of what CA thinks are 'high polluters' get randomly selected to have a dynamometer test which is more rigorous. Anyway, the standards for the standard smog are (This is for a 1988 vanagon - standards vary by year of manufacturer) 2500 RPM test maximum allowable: HC PPM 180 CO % 1.0 Idle RPM maximum allowable HC PPM 120 CO % 1.0 Robert Lilley wrote: > >>Mostly personal reasons having to do with lack of time, > > Understandable > > > >>lack of tools > > Need a 2 13 mm wrenches or one with a 13 mm socket, screw driver, > allen > wrench, tube cutter (If you want I can cut the push rods for you, send > them > to me...) snap ring pliers, and an afternoon. > > > >>some concern about passing California smog tests every 2 years. > > If you have the chip and the rest is in good shape, should pass. > > Add an adjustable pressure regulator and just turn it down a few psi > for the > test. > > Mine with the Chip, rockers, mild porting and other changes passed my > local > emissions test. > > What are the requirements for CA testing? > > > Robert [text/html]
