No, not my bus, but i got a free Ghia- I just had to get it before the crusher got it. The body was perfect- just need some paint, wheels, engine ,tranny, seats.... so two years later i am driving it around the block is a quiet residental neighborhood- I had to check the brakes and transaxle, suspension. You know, the usual. But i had no windows and the doors were held closed w/ bungee cords. I put on my safety goggles and went for a drive. I got pulled over. Cop didn't want excuses. Gave me a fat ticket for driving without a windshield. A month later i'm in front of the judge. "Your honor- how do i check my brakes if i can't drive with out a windshield?" The judge responds "Mr Pollard, don't get caught." That was his answer.... all in all, i got a fix-it ticket- i just had to put a windshield in. Ok, back to work. m Matthew Pollard http://www.uidaho.edu/~poll7356 Dept. of Chemistry http://www.chem.uidaho.edu University of Idaho http://www.uidaho.edu On Thu, 17 May 2001, sg wrote: > hey folks, > > ive finally gotten my westie legal(registered and title transfered), after owning and driving it for nine months. feels amazing. i dont have to wince or reflexively take my foot off the gas pedal every time i pass a cop ... > > anybody else driven their vanagons somewhat less than legally for any long length of time? anything come of it? > > -steve&buster >
