I'm looking for a good [independent] VW Vanagon tune-up man in the Los
Angeles area, near Glendale or Pasadena if possible.  I just bought an 83
water cooled camper.  Took it in to a VW mechanic for tune-up [Yellow
Pages],,,, he put a set of plugs in it, set the timing, changed the oil and
filter, and called it a "tune-up".  It still runs crummy,,,, surges badly
at idle, black soot in the tailpipe, went through 1/2 tank gas in 80
miles,,,,hard to start when hot, etc.  Would appreciate any help.  Thanks
