Paul, is the engine flooding? You mentioned the engine starting briefly
when you kink the hose.
Chris.

Subject: fuel line problems still
Hi List,
Ok, the fuel line is replaced and a new filter was
used. The problem is the van still won't start. When
it is cranked it will produce 40 pounds of pressure.
When the hose is kinked between the gas tank and the
fuel pump, it will read 0 pounds of pressure but start
and run briefly. Is the problem with the fuel
pressure regulator? Or should i have my friend who is
working on my van check to see if the injectors are
spraying properly, plugs are dirty, fuel pump is
kicking ok, compression ok?? Any other ideas, feel
free to give me your 2 cents plus worth. It is a 2.1L
automatic 87 Vanagon w/ only 8k on the Slow German
Auto rebuild.
