I have a bad habit of flogging a dead horse, but is it possible (you of all
people must know how infinite the realm of possibility is) that they are
talking about the pinion shaft rather than the main shaft?  I have most of
the printed 2WD dealer service booklets and the Bentley, yet, I can find no
reference to shims on the mainshaft.
