For travel south of the border, I carry in the glove box an expensive pair of men's mirrored Ray Ban sunglasses. Should ever I find myself having to bribe my way out of trouble, mirrored Ray Bans are the coin of the realm! I learned this the 70's, when traveling in Guatemala in my '96 Westy. A military policeman once attempted to "requisition" my van-- a common practice during the worst of the war. If Ray Bans are insufficient (heaven forbid!) I carry a $100 bill rolled tightly in a lipstick tube alongside the Ray Bans in the glove box. With these, a large plastic police whistle & a can of pepper spray, I feel confident to handle just about anything! Phaedra '85 Wolfs Westy "Basecamp"
