If you go to the type2 list at type2@type2.com you'll find a multitude of
young Van owners. In many cases price keeps them out of the Vanagon
air-cooled and watercooled vans.
The older vans can be had from free to just several hundred dollars.
A complete rebuilt or even new Mexican engine can be had for less than
nine hundred dollars.
At a recent get-together at Bardwell Resivour I met several young
individuals and married couples that had adopted displaced and repairable
vans. Rust was something to show off rather than cover up.
They all had a passion for their 61 through 76 vans although they were a
little put off by the top speed of their vehicles.
It's cool to have an old van I was told and a little rust was better than
Bondo patches.
