Regarding your question about the Transvair conversion: IIRC my old kit came
with stub axle adapters. The kit used Otto Parts axles. I think they are just
regular Corvair axles.

Some kits used part of he VW bus axle welded to the Chevrolet axle at
midpoint. Same system was used to install a complete Toronada/Cadillac V*
engine and trans into a VW. Should be adaptable to a Vanagon if that's what
you are trying to do.
