Yes.

If you are careful, you can even stop it :-)

Search the archives, there is a lot on towing. Personally, I pull about
900 lb tent trailer, van is loaded with me, three kids, more stuff than we
need. It is an 81 air cooled with about 200K.  I am not happy when pulling
up extended long grades on the freeway, but mt roads don't give me too
much trouble. Personally considering a second oil cooler for good luck. :)

Leave LOTS of room for stopping. There are more idiots out there than you
can count.
