Just pulled this out of my '87 Vanagon in favor of an in-dash CD.  Works great...I
was using it before I pulled it.  Make sure your rear speakers are wired for
separate grounds.  The later Vanagons have it (e.g. our '87), the earlier ones
don't (e.g. our '85).

CD unit with AM/FM, 22W per channel...sounds great and cheap:
