I've come to the conclusions that Vanagons were built by committee.  The oil
committee decided how to do their part and the coolant committee decided how
to do theirs, etc.  Each committee had the van completely built up from its
own perspective.  They then had a big meeting with lots of booze, and
figured out a way to make all of the systems fit together.

I had to remove the oil filler neck in order to remove this darned hose,
which means that I had to drain the oil, too!

AARGH!!
