Makes getting out a hassle and wears the lock out twice as fast. Nom other modern manufacturer that i know of does this. VW's own cars of the 70s could be locked without keys (pull outdide trigger, push inside knob down, swing door shut). But then, the 70s vans had single-sided keys when the sedans got double... the van loses out as usual. Apparently the driver's side lock can be easily modified to be knob-lockable (keyless), but I haven't done mine yet. I'll also be fitting remote central locking, so won't need the key at all. If you keep a spare key in your wallet you needn't feel worried about locking yourself out!
