Larry, If a crook wants in, he can get in, locks keep the honest people out. I forgot to mention the best two ways in 1. use the key 2. break a window. Other ways use a crow bar, use a metal saw, use a chain tied to a truck and jerk the back door off, use a screw driver and a pair of pliers. There are countless ways in. I look at the van the same way I look at the stereo installed. I didn't use all the hardware to put it in, nor the safety stuff. I figure if they want it, they'll get it, so why make the dashboard and wiring the sacrificial lamb for a $200 stereo. Don't destroy the van for a part. And I don't carry the Hope Diamond around in it. I'm sure we all feel better knowing that everyone now knows how to break into our vans van. Sleep well everyone. -Larry '86 Syncro Westfalia <<FYI for those who have ever locked keys in the van I would like to pass on an aged old trick that makes the vanagon the easiest car to get into. Use a flat rigid piece of something (like a hand saw blade) and .......................... down on the window lock and slide the window open. Jere 90 GL 88 GL>>
