Dear wise listees [you can tell I want something] Thank you for the responses to the transmission problem. Turned out to be a blown pilot bearing, apparently it hadn't been changed when the last clutch job or two were done. Darn Missing. The van started missing under load on a trip to Southern California [from northern Cal.]. After the clutch job drove it once and it was fine. Then as soon as I started back to Nor Cal it started missing again. this time felt like it was running on 3 cylinders. Then it would clear and run fine, then back to missing. Was smogged just prior to trip and passed OK, not great though. Had new Bosch single platinum's in it, new rotor and cap. Changed the platinum's to copper Bosch in Southern Cal. Checked rotor and cap, just generic FLAPS stuff but looked OK. Ran the van and sprayed brake clearer at every air bearing surface I could find, no change in engine note. Got 20 mpg going south and from 15 to 18 coming north [against a very stiff wind]. Any ideas what to look at from you oh wise list gurus? TIA Mike Oh, forgot that I put two new wheels on it that I got from BenT. Do you suppose he did me in?
