My CA registered '85 has only a large, metal filter *fter the pump.
Lately, on occassion, I hear a high pitched, tho quiet, humming/whine.
It's intermittant & sounds smoothe...
I routinely change my fuel filter every year & it's due soon to be changed.
So perhaps that's it...I think I'll add another filter *before the pump.
