It seems that VW is mum for all there gas engines when it comes to timing
belt change interval.  For Golfs and Jettas the my manual never said
anything.  The general wisdom I got from a trusted garage was change them
out every 70-100K or 5 years, especially if you had a high compression
engine.  This reminds me that I have to change the belt on my conversion:)
