Hey Vanagon Diesel folks: I looked at an '82 Vanagon Diesel today with the Diesel Auxiliary heater. The heater ran, but I have a few questions about its operation: -Is there supposed to be a "tailpipe" for the heater fuel exhaust? The exhaust from this heater came out of a 2" - 3" tube almost directly under the center of the van. There was nothing that directed the exhaust to the rear or side of the van. While the car was idling, this smoky exhaust kind of hung in the air. At first, I thought the engine had an exhaust leak, until I got under the car and saw the exhaust coming from the auxiliary heater. Not very pleasant. -Where does the "heat" actually come out in the van? That is, does it come through the regular ventilation ductwork, or are there only specific ducts? It was hard for me to detect, although I think the blower up front was not operating properly. Does the blower up at the heater core circulate this air? Or is there a separate blower and ducts? Thanks for any insight. Maynard Southard OvO '79 '82 Westy Diesel "Reinhardt" '93 EV GL "Klinger" '00 Golf GLS TDI "WooHoo" '84 Jetta GL TD "Donor"
