First, I'd like to thank everyone that responded to my earlier questions,
the information has been helpful.  To recap, I'm looking at an '83 Westy
with 82,000 miles on it.

Here's what I just heard from the dealer, it sounds pretty good.  The only
worry is that the head gaskets were done 5 years ago, is that about how long
they last?
