Perhaps you otter consider getting a Westy interior, Westy top, and cleaning all the silicone out of the sunroof mechanism. That hole in the roof is large enough to support access into the top bunk area. Bolt on the Fiberglass top, install all the Westy stuff, build a platform for the bed upstairs, and you have a camper for a reasonable price. Yo already know the mechanicals. It's what I would do if I had a sunroof. tim o'brien >I have an 84 vanagon GL, 1.9l engine, Sony Explode stereo in dash, on road >and running with a slight engine tap (intermittent) Carpeting in center >area replaced, mattress installed over rear seat and engine compartment, >and working (?) sunroof (previous owner sealed the roof with silicone, so I >believe it leaks, but doesn't leak currently). new battery, plugs, >distributor cap & rotor, tires have approx 8k miles on them, and recently >installed the driving lights to better improve night vision.
