Second the motion to check this.  Last winter was going into garage to
get something out of the freezer, smelled strong odor of gas.  This
plastic 'pipe' was leaking (only pressure fits under tubing).  A simple
hose clamp fixed problem, but don't even want to think about the fact
that the baby sitter had both of the kids in the car 1/2 hour before...
