Look up the Dometic RM182 repair manual located at Darrell Bohler's  web
site http://www.loam.org/vw/

I think that fan should be blowing up, drawing air through the louvers at
the base of the fridge and pushing it out the grilles behind the stove
and on the left side of the fridge cabinet.
