Subject:Who sells 4 speed shifter rebuild kits
From:Gary McEachern
Date:Thu, 16 Aug 2001 20:55:52 -0400

I seem to recall Ken Wilfy sold these kits but I couldn't find them on his
web site (Vanagain.com). I thought BusDepot may have sold them as well but
couldn't find a kit to repair the shifter there either. Seems that VW also
supplies these parts but maybe not in the form of a kit.

I recall the kit having a bunch of little parts and costing in the $20-$30
price range. Can anyone provide me with supplier/part number/price
information on the kit?

Subject: [VANAGON] 4 speed shifter sloppy and vibrates
Date: Wed, 15 Aug 2001 21:38:02 -0400

The shifter on my '87 van is sloppy and makes a buzzing/rattling noise as I
accellerate. Seems like the spring has lost it's tension? The rattling noise
from the shifter is more annoying than the slop
.
Does the shifter rebuild kit that some of the list vendors offer fix the
buzzing and rattling along with the slop in the shifter?
