Thanks to everyone who responded with advice on the idea of repainting my
Syncro from red to silver.

I guess it's a testament to the self-sufficient nature of this group that
a fair number of folks assumed that I was PERSONALLY going to repaint the
van!  I was really just looking for the kinds of questions to ask and
criteria to use in order to pick one paint shop over another.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, though - I have taken on some
ridiculous projects, but there are some things I know better than to try
myself.  I think I'll leave auto painting to those who have more brain
cells to spare!
