No desire to have a 3 digit Vanagon, but I did have an old 60 Baja Bug
convesion with tall tires and a Porsche Super 90 engine in it(around 1970)
It would easily take the speedo needle all the way around clockwise to the
other side of the zero peg.  yes it took a while to get to a stop from that
speed.  I'm living proofthat God takes care of the totally ignorant!
