We are a community, even larger, a global community. We are Americans, Canadians, British, Australians, Germans, and many others who share what we love, our VW's. Our list serves as a world ambassador. We spend most of our time giving help to those who request it for Vanagons. But what do our Vanagons represent? They are linked to our freedom, to go where and when we want to. Vanagons are more than practical, they are descendents of the Microbus pedigree. They represent community, whether it is a Bus Meet, a family camping, Mum taking the neighbourhood to soccer, or a curious neighbour visiting your garage when you are working on your Vanagon. We are a world community, and right now our world is in crisis and our freedom has been threatened. I live in NJ and am longer, at least for now , free to travel where I want to and when. Our bridges and tunnels to NYC are closed, not just Manhattan, but to Staten Island, and points east. We cannot visit our neighbours across the Hudson. And it all happened in a flash. This list is a community with a spirit. I have seen Newfoundlanders, Germans, Brits, Torontonians all make offers to other list members, virtual strangers linked by the common bond of our Vanagons. To my friends of the list, keep the spirit alive. Continue to share. Pray for us all. We need to stick together. G.B.A. -- ô ϳ, Tim Barnegat, NJ, USA 1990 Vanagon GL
