Hi all, I cannot help with the install itself, never did one, but I can mention that the cable runs through some tubing under the van on my '86. The tubing has joints that must be watertight. I had a joint open up and water get in there. In the winter it froze up as I was driving (of course while at a high rpm too). Good luck, Kerry '86 syncro, 181K kstanley@cas.org -----Original Message----- From: Scott Kraning [mailto:OuiSki1@aol.com] Sent: Thursday, September 13, 2001 5:10 PM To: vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com Subject: Accelerator cable replacement (??) Hi all - Maybe this isn't the best time to be asking a question about Vanagons, but whenever anyone has a chance: My accel. cable snapped yesterday about 3" from the rear (near the engine bay) connection point. I ordered the replacement part from B/D for around $20. I have a Bentley's but the instructions look a little vague. Has anyone done this R/R? What is the best way to get the rear attachment piece off (looks like a little sphere with the side sliced off? I guess the rest would be pretty straight forward - feed the line through from front to back and attach. Any pointers would be appreciated! Thanks, Scott
