VW has a few of (possibly) upcoming TDIs roaming the streets of So Cal. I've routinely seen a woman (with kids) driving a B-5 (98-00) Passat, TDI, 4-motion, strangely enough also manual trans. The VW rep said they haven't passed US laws yet. Also, I have been getting orders from a very large local turbo company that has been testing bigger turbos for the upcoming TDI. They should overcome the 2.0 output without even trying to hard.
