Terry,

Perhaps the ones in your Vanagon are zinc-plated. However, the seat belt
bolts on mine are cad. Much if the hardware as you say are zinc plated. But
there is also quite a bit that is cad plated. The point I was making is toxic
or not it is not that critical to me since there is already hardware present
in our big boxes of bolts which are plated as such.
