I have used nothing but Prestone since '86. Never had any problems on either of my two Vanagons. I bought the '86 new so I know its history. The key is changing it every 2 or 3 years? Use either VW's Autobahn (blue and phosphate free) or long-life type like Dexcool (orange). Orange is not compatible with blue, so you must flush well. Others on the list have made this change. Hopefully they will chime in. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Royston, Jerry" <gmr@OBPA.USDA.GOV> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Friday, September 28, 2001 11:15 AM Subject: Re: antifreeze and stop leak > Can someone tell me what's the difference between the green stuff and the > orange?
