Speaking of squealing brakes... I put new front rotors and pads on my syncro about four months ago. for the first month she braked fine... no noise. then after doing some fourwheeling and running through a few puddles... one of them (at least partially) salt water, she started to squeal... but only on the first stop after a new startup. doesn't usually repeat after quick stops at the store or wherever to run errands and what not, but will definitely repeat if left for several hours or overnight. after the first stop each time, she never does it again on that trip. still brakes fine, but the initial squealing each time is annoying. any ideas? mick 89 syncro westy hilo, hawaii ----- Original Message ----- From: Stan Wilder <wilden1@JUNO.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Monday, October 01, 2001 4:18 PM Subject: Squealing Brakes > Patient: 83 Westfalia Air Cooled > Treatment so far: New Bendix Rotors, New Wheel Bearings and Seals, New > Metallic Brake Pads, New Calipers. > Are there any little fiber separators or something that will stop these > squealing brakes ?. > The old brakes were this way and I never did find a fix. > I followed the break in instructions of stopping gently for about 20 > tiimes from 30 mph. > > Stan Wilder > 83 Westfalia Air Cooled > ________________________________________________________________ > GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! > Juno offers FREE or PREMIUM Internet access for less! > Join Juno today!
