What is different internally about the diesel alternators?  I have an '89
Jetta diesel and the local FLAPS does not carry it.  I can get a Vanagon or
gas jetta alternator off of the shelf.  What does the "W" wire do?  Is this
for the Dynamic Oil Pressure System? If so, mine doesn't work anyway.  Is
is a mounting configuration difference?  I had the original rebuilt, but
may need something else in the near future.  It has bearing problems and is
back at the "reubuilders" for a look-see.
