Entity Milo spoke thus: > 2.) He didn't replace the heat shields. These armore than heatshields, they are seals to hold in the compression. I hope you replaced them, they MUST be new every time the injectors are taken out. > 3.) He used non-pressurized hose between the injectors... What do you mean? The return hoses? These are not under significant pressure and incedentally I use the non-braided hose there, it is much more durable. > weren't even torqued to spec. in the first place, but I have no way of > knowing this for sure. It seems likely that even a truck mechanic can bolt down the head well enuf. Even so, you should try to tighten them a 1/4 turn or so just in case. Personally I have found that after a new gasket the bolts never needed to be retightened, but that may be a factor of the kind of gasket material. (lets hear it for asbestos). If it ever leaks, due to the high compression of the diesel, you will get gas blowing into the coolant so that is not the worst scenario. Just drive it! http://home.earthlink.net/~gnarlodious/Vanagon.html http://www.gnarlodious.com
