I am installing a '97 Golf VW stereo onto my '85 Vanagon.  I have the
speaker wires ID'ed, but am not sure about the others.  There is a ground,
and 12V.  Does this stereo need a dimmer connection?  It is the alarm type
cassette unit w/cd control functions.  I am going to a local yard today to
pick up the harnesses (speaker and power).  If I can find the right one for
this unit it should have the necessary wires on it with the color codes.  I
am hoping I can ID them from there.  Anyone put a late model VW stereo in
recently?
