Get a tie rod separator from Autozone or a similar FLAPS, and remove the end
with no damage.  Cost is around $12.  Use a pitman arm puller to remove the
ball joints.

I have removed my tie rod ends several times with no problems or damage.

Only takes a few seconds to pop it out.
