I cranked mine over, 1.8 RV Digifant 2, for the first time a couple of days ago. The fuel pump doesn't run, so I need to check to find if it is good or if the wiring needs some revision...you are ahead of me sinc4e yours ran. I used the single outlet swivel-manifold that came with the engine, cut the "socket" off the downpipe, welded to it, so it would head forward, a 1 3/4" O.D. mandrel-bent 90 elbow cut on an aproximate 20 bias at the beginning of the curvature to keep it from being lower than the oilpan, cut the 90 again leaving 1" of "leg" after the end of curvature on which to attach a length of 1 3/4" I.D. 304 stainless flex-hose. This curves behind the axle, is on the outside of the left carrier bar, and attaches to the '82 Vanagon diesel Muffler/tailpipe. No cat. yet...first I want to get it running.
